Enabling Pop-Ups

1. Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. In the top-right corner, click the menu/more icon (either Chrome menu or More).
  3. Click “Settings.”
  4. Click “Show advanced settings.”
  5. Under the Privacy heading, click “Content settings…”

  6. Under Pop-ups, select “Do not allow any site to show pop-ups (recommended)” and then click “Manage exceptions…”

  7. In the Pop-up exceptions window, enter http://portal.viu.edu in the Hostname pattern column. In the Behavior column, choose to allow pop-ups. Click “Done” when you are finished.

2. Mozilla Firefox

  1. Click the menu button (New Fx Menu) and choose “Options.”
  2. Select “Content” from the left menu.
  3. Be sure that “Block pop-up windows” is marked under the Pop-ups section and then click “Exceptions.”

  4. In the Allowed Sites window, enter http://portal.viu.edu in the website field and then click “Allow.” Be sure to save your changes before exiting.

3. Microsoft Internet Explorer

  1. Click the Tools button (Tools) and then choose “Internet options.”
  2. In the Privacy tab, under Pop-up Blocker, mark the box beside “Turn on Pop-up Blocker” and then click “Settings.”

  3. Enter http://portal.viu.edu in the website address field and click “Add.”
